About Us

Cane River Island Foods is a mother and daughter business. Our entire family has been associated with the live crawfish industry since 1985. We have our own ponds and raise our own crawfish, so when we wanted to start a business together, it seemed natural that crawfish should be involved. We started experimenting with recipes in 2005 until we found just the right combination of ingredients, and as the saying goes “the rest is history.” Our pies are all made by hand, one at a time, with only quality Louisiana crawfish tail meat. We thank you for supporting our family business and sincerely hope you enjoy our crawfish pies. We can ship our pies nationwide to your family and friends.

History:
Near Natchitoches, the Cane River Island area located near Cloutierville (pronounced Cloochyville) was founded in 1822 by a Frenchman named Alexis Cloutier. Today, there are a few historic structures still lining the main street, including the Kate Chopin House, a circa 1900 bank, St. John’s Catholic Church and cemetery, and numerous circa 1880 to 1930 tenant houses. Also, the town’s cultural landscape has many other features along the riverfront that are indicative of the plantation era, including pecan orchards, oak alleys, fence lines and various agricultural fields.
